An old Szekler’s barn was threatened with demolition. The Transylvanian painting restaurator could not watch untouched so his wish was to unmount it and rebuild it as his own house and painting atelier. The new settlement was Székelyboos, Bozeni, a very well preserved village near Târgu Mureș, Transylvania, Romania with a strongly bounded community in a valley surounded by woods. As static norms for contemporary residential buildings changed, not all construction elements had the caracteristics for rebuilding the barn as house. The challenge was to integrate as much as possible originale substance from the old barn into the new home of the painting restaurator.
